J. G. Young Public Library was originally built in 1983, after local fundraising efforts received an extremely generous financial contribution from John & Marjorie Young. Over the years they remained committed to the library and in 1996 made another contribution that provided the library with the funds necessary to begin an expansion. With the support of the community, local service groups, businesses and many individuals the expansion was opened to the public the summer of 1997.
